When I was little, going to the Meredith Public Library seemed like a magical ordeal. It wasn't something I ended up doing very often -- due to my extreme shyness-- despite growing up in the area my whole life, but when I was there I was overwhelmed by all the amazing books.
What I do remember is spending quality time with my mom, who took me there when I went. What type of books did I read back then? YA Horror and Garfield books are what I remember most. A strange combination to say the least. I ended up buying many of my own Fear Street novels by the great R.L. Stine after getting hooked thanks to my library.
I recently found my old box of Fear Street novels and my very first but now very defunct library card (don't worry, I've gotten a new one).
Do you remember what your first library card? What were the first books that you checked out? Tell me your stories!
